  With the passive -되다, the noun is the subject, so use 이/가, not the object marker 을/를. 발견되다 means 'to be discovered'.

  Scientific reporting uses formal 합니다체 (-습니다), not the casual 해요체 (-어요). Match the register to the topic.

  For scientific speculation use -(으)ㄹ 가능성이 있다, not the simple future -(으)ㄹ 거예요, which just states a plan or guess.

  A past counterfactual needs -았/었더라면 ('if ... had'). -아서/어서 states a real cause, which breaks the 'what could have been' meaning.
