Agreeing and Disagreeing in Japanese
Japanese uses connectors to link reasons and contrasts. Three essential patterns at B1:
〜し (and also / listing reasons)
Used to list multiple reasons. Each clause ends with し.
- この店(みせ)は安(やす)いし、おいしいし、好(す)きです。 (This shop is cheap, tasty, and I like it.)
〜から / 〜ので (because)
Both mean "because," but ので is softer and more polite.
- 忙(いそが)しいから、行(い)けません。 (I can't go because I'm busy.)
- 天気(てんき)がいいので、散歩(さんぽ)しましょう。 (Since the weather is nice, let's take a walk.)
〜けど / 〜けれども (however / but)
Used to contrast or soften a statement. けれども is more formal.
- そう思いますけど、ちょっと難(むずか)しいですね。 (I think so, but it's a bit difficult.)
- 賛成(さんせい)ですけれども、もう少(すこ)し考(かんが)えたいです。 (I agree, however I'd like to think a bit more.)

Erros frequentes
安いし、おいしいだし、好きです。安いし、おいしいし、好きです。With し, i-adjectives connect directly. Do not add だ before し with i-adjectives.
忙しいのので、行けません。忙しいので、行けません。With i-adjectives, connect directly to ので. The の nominalizer is not needed here.
賛成ですけど、でも問題があります。賛成ですけど、問題があります。けど already means but. Adding でも creates a redundant double conjunction.
天気がいいだから散歩しましょう。天気がいいから散歩しましょう。After i-adjectives, から connects directly. Do not insert だ between an i-adjective and から.
面白いと思うし、楽しいと思うし。面白いし、楽しいし、いいと思います。When listing with し, put と思います at the end, not after each clause.
