Uso no nível C1

  • Reconhecer as suas variações (not one's cup of tea → not my cup of tea)
  • Usá-los naturalmente numa conversa, sem os forçar

Erros frequentes — Idiomatismos

  • She was feeling under the climate. → She was feeling under the weather.

A expressão fixa é "under the weather", não "under the climate". Alterar um idiomatismo torna-o incompreensível.

  • He broke the ice of the meeting. → He broke the ice at the meeting.

  • That film was not my cup of tea. I loved it. → contradição

"Not my cup of tea" significa que algo não te agrada; é incompatível com "I loved it".

  • Once in a blue moon, I eat pizza. → Once in a blue moon, I visit my grandmother.

  • He spilled the beans intentionally to help us. → He revealed the secret to help us.

  • He broke the ice of the meeting.
He broke the ice at the meeting.
