Polite Offers and Invitations
Wil je...? (Do you want...?)
Use wil je to offer something:
- Wil je iets drinken? → Do you want something to drink?
- Wil je mee naar het feestje? → Do you want to come to the party?
Heb je zin in...? (Do you fancy...?)
A casual way to invite:
- Heb je zin in een biertje? → Do you fancy a beer?
- Heb je zin in een film? → Do you feel like a film?
Accepting
- Ja, graag! → Yes, please!
- Ja, natuurlijk! → Yes, of course!
- Dat lijkt me leuk! → That sounds fun!
- Ja, gezellig! → Yes, how nice! (very Dutch!)
Declining politely
- Nee, bedankt → No, thank you
- Helaas kan ik niet → Unfortunately I can't
- Ik heb al plannen → I already have plans
- Misschien een andere keer → Maybe another time
