Pro/Con Vocabulary

Contrast Connectors

Зато — Key Contrast Word
Зато compensates for a negative:

Мне трудно фокусироваться.Мне трудно сосредоточиться.The native Russian word is сосредоточиться. Фокусироваться is understood but sounds foreign/unnatural.
Есть много плюсов и минусов удалённая работа.Есть много плюсов и минусов у удалённой работы.Use у + genitive to express 'the pros and cons of X': у удалённой работы (genitive).
С одной сторона, удобно.С одной стороны, удобно.The set phrase is с одной стороны — сторона takes genitive (стороны), not nominative.
Я отвлекаюсь дети.Я отвлекаюсь на детей.Отвлекаться requires на + accusative: отвлекаться на детей (get distracted by the children).
Дома тихо, но зато скучно.Дома тихо, зато скучно.Зато already implies contrast, so но is redundant before it. Use зато alone.
