Project Management Language in Chinese
Project management in Chinese uses a blend of modern borrowed vocabulary and classical Chinese structures. At B2 level, you need to express progress, deadlines, and delegation clearly and professionally.
---
Expressing Progress and Status
Use 已 (yǐ — already) and 尚未 (shàng wèi — not yet) for status reports:
项目已完成80%。(Xiàngmù yǐ wánchéng bā shí bā.) — The project is 80% complete.
报告尚未提交。(Bàogào shàng wèi tíjiāo.) — The report has not yet been submitted.
进度 (jìndù) tracks schedule progress:
目前进度正常 / 进度滞后 / 进度超前
(Currently on schedule / behind schedule / ahead of schedule)
---
Deadlines and Urgency
截止日期为……(Jiézhǐ rìqī wéi……) — The deadline is…
务必在……之前完成 (wùbì zài…… zhīqián wánchéng) — Must be completed before…
如有延误,请立即告知。(Rú yǒu yánwù, qǐng lìjí gàozhī.) — If there is any delay, please notify us immediately.
---
Delegation and Responsibility
负责 (fùzé) means "to be responsible for":
李经理负责客户沟通。(Lǐ jīnglǐ fùzé kèhù gōutōng.) — Manager Li is responsible for client communication.
由…负责 assigns responsibility:
此任务由技术团队负责。(Cǐ rènwù yóu jìshù tuánduì fùzé.) — This task is the responsibility of the technical team.
---
Risk and Contingency
我们需要进行风险评估。(Wǒmen xūyào jìnxíng fēngxiǎn pínggū.) — We need to conduct a risk assessment.
应制定应急预案。(Yīng zhìdìng yìngjí yù'àn.) — A contingency plan should be developed.
风险可控 / 风险较高 (fēngxiǎn kěkòng / fēngxiǎn jiào gāo) — risk is manageable / risk is high

Veelgemaakte fouten
项目完成了80%已经。项目已完成80%。已 (already) must come before the verb, not at the end. The correct word order is subject + 已 + verb + complement
这个任务是技术团队的责任。此任务由技术团队负责。The pattern 由…负责 is the standard professional Chinese way to assign responsibility. Avoid translating directly from European languages
如果有延误,请告诉我们。如有延误,请立即告知。In formal written Chinese, use 如有 (if there is) instead of 如果有, and 告知 instead of 告诉我们. The formal register drops redundant words for concision
