Conditional inversion in B2 Italian
Conditional inversion consists of omitting *se* (if) by inverting the order of the imperfect or past perfect subjunctive. This is an elevated register used in formal speeches, pitches, and professional writing.
Structure
- *Se avessi saputo...* → *Avessi saputo...*
- *Se fossero venuti...* → *Fossero venuti...*
- *Se avessimo investito...* → *Avessimo investito...*

- *Avessi saputo quanto fosse difficile scalare, avrei cercato più finanziamenti all''inizio.*
→ Had I known how difficult it was to scale, I would have sought more funding at the start. (= *Se avessi saputo...*)
