Questions about the free lessons
Are Mio’s lessons really free?
Yes. Every lesson — about 190 per language, from A1 to C2 — is readable for free on this site and in the Mio app, with no account and no card. Mio makes money on Premium practice features (like unlimited exercises and voice conversation), not on lesson access.
Which languages can I learn with Mio?
13 languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian and Hindi. Each language has the same full CEFR curriculum from beginner (A1) to mastery (C2).
How are the lessons structured?
The curriculum follows the CEFR scale: 6 levels (A1 to C2), about 46 chapters and 190 lessons per language. A lesson takes about 5 minutes and always has four parts: vocabulary, a clear grammar explanation, common mistakes with corrections, and a mini-quiz.
What does the Mio app add over the website?
The website is for reading lessons and trying mini-quizzes. The app is the actual tutor: adaptive exercises, real voice conversations (Talk), listening comprehension, spaced-repetition flashcards, and a coach that tracks your mistakes and plans each day around your weak spots. iOS and Android, free to start.
