Critical Media Literacy in Polish
Being a critical media consumer requires specific Polish vocabulary and analytical frameworks.
Key concepts:
- Dezinformacja vs. misinformacja: dezinformacja is deliberately false; misinformacja may be unintentionally spread
- Bańka informacyjna (filter bubble): algorithms showing only content you agree with, creating komora pogłosowa (echo chamber)
- Weryfikacja faktów (fact-checking): cross-referencing sources before believing or sharing
Questions to ask about Polish media texts:
- Kto jest autorem i jakie ma intencje? (Who is the author and what are their intentions?)
- Jakie źródła są przytaczane? (What sources are cited?)
- Co zostało pominięte? (What has been omitted?)
- Jaki jest kontekst wypowiedzi? (What is the context of the statement?)
Red flags (sygnały ostrzegawcze):
- Brak autora lub daty (bez podpisu, bez daty)
