Synthesis of Register and Style
- 격식체 (formal): 합쇼체 endings (-습니다/습니까), nominalized predicate constructions
- 비격식체 (informal): 해요체 / 해체, contraction-heavy speech
- Switching registers fluidly without sounding awkward is a C2 hallmark
Advanced Grammatical Patterns to Master
- -(으)ㄹ수록 … -(으)ㄹ수록: the more … the more
- -는 바람에: because of (unexpected cause, often negative)
- -고 말다: to end up doing (completed, often regrettable)
- -았/었더라면: past contrary-to-fact conditionals
Meta-linguistic Awareness
- Knowing that -겠- can indicate inference, not just future
- Understanding the pragmatic difference between 아/어요 and -ㅂ니다 in context

늦잠 때문에 지각했어 (neutral cause)늦잠을 자는 바람에 지각했어-는 바람에 expresses unexpected, often negative cause; 때문에 is neutral
결국 포기했다 (no nuance)결국 포기하고 말았다-고 말다 adds the sense of an unwanted or reluctant completion
