Clothes shopping in Korean
When shopping for clothes in Korea, you need to know a few key grammar patterns.
Wearing verbs — 입다 vs 신다:
- 입다 is used for clothing worn on the body: 옷을 입어요 (I wear clothes), 셔츠를 입어요 (I wear a shirt)
- 신다 is used for footwear: 신발을 신어요 (I wear shoes), 양말을 신어요 (I wear socks)
Asking about size:
- 사이즈가 어떻게 돼요? — What size is it?
- 작아요 — It is small / 커요 — It is big / 딱 맞아요 — It fits perfectly
Trying on clothes:
- 입어 봐도 돼요? — Can I try it on?
- 이거 있어요? — Do you have this?
Useful shopping phrases:
- 얼마예요? — How much is it?
- 좀 더 작은 거 있어요? — Do you have a smaller one?
- 좀 더 큰 거 있어요? — Do you have a bigger one?
- 이걸로 할게요 — I'll take this one
