Describing Your Home in Korean
To describe where things are in your home, use location particles and existence verbs.
Key location expressions:
- 에 있어요 → is/are at (location)
- 침대가 방에 있어요 → The bed is in the room
- 소파가 거실에 있어요 → The sofa is in the living room
Describing your home:
- 방이 몇 개예요? → How many rooms are there?
- 방이 두 개예요 → There are two rooms
- 집이 커요 → The house is big
- 집이 작아요 → The house is small
Native Korean numbers for counting rooms:
- 하나 (one), 둘 (two), 셋 (three) → used with counters
- 방 한 개 (one room), 방 두 개 (two rooms)
Location particle 에: Attach 에 to place nouns to show where something is located.
Expressões
- 집이 어디에 있어요?Where is your house?
- 제 방은 작아요.My room is small
- 화장실이 어디예요?Where is the bathroom?
- 거실에서 쉬어요.I rest in the living room
- 부엌에서 요리해요.I cook in the kitchen
- 침대가 방에 있어요.The bed is in the room
Erros frequentes
집에서 있어요집에 있어요Use 에 있어요 for location (being somewhere), not 에서 있어요
방이 두예요방이 두 개예요Use the counter 개 with native numbers: 두 개 (two items/rooms)
화장실은 어디에 있어요 (casual question)화장실이 어디예요?For asking the location of a place, 화장실이 어디예요? is more natural
부엌을 요리해요부엌에서 요리해요Use 에서 (action location particle) not 를/을 with places where actions happen
집이 크있어요집이 커요크다 (big) conjugates as 커요, not 크있어요
