Describing Problems and Asking for Help
When something goes wrong with technology, you need to describe the issue and ask someone to help fix it. This lesson covers three essential grammar patterns for these situations.
(It seems like...)
This casual pattern expresses your impression or guess based on what you observe. It attaches directly to plain forms.
— It seems like the computer broke down.
(It appears that...)
Similar to みたいです but slightly more formal and often used in writing or polite speech. It also follows plain forms.
— It appears the connection was lost.
(To have someone do something for you)
This pattern expresses receiving a favor or service from someone.
— I had the engineer repair it. — Could you check the settings for me?
These three patterns let you describe what seems to be wrong and ask for assistance politely — essential skills when dealing with technical support in Japanese.
Expressões

Erros frequentes
パソコンが壊れたみたいパソコンが故障(こしょう)したみたいですUse 故障する for mechanical/technical breakdowns (壊れる implies physical destruction), and add です for polite speech
エラーが出るようだエラーが出(で)ているようですUse the ている progressive form to describe an ongoing situation, and です for politeness
The person who does the action takes the particle に, not が — が marks the subject (you), に marks the helper
更新をしなければいけない更新(こうしん)しなければなりませんなりません is the polite form; いけない is casual and inappropriate in formal tech support contexts
接続が遅いようみたいです接続(せつぞく)が遅(おそ)いみたいですDo not combine ようです and みたいです — they are interchangeable patterns, so choose one
