Learning a Language — Talking About Your Progress
Saying how long you have been learning:
- मैं दो साल से हिंदी सीख रहा/रही हूँ। — I have been learning Hindi for two years.
- मैंने पिछले महीने से शुरू किया। — I started last month.
Describing your ability level:
- मैं थोड़ा-थोड़ा बोल सकता/सकती हूँ। — I can speak a little.
- मैं अच्छे से समझ सकता/सकती हूँ, लेकिन बोलना मुश्किल है। — I can understand well, but speaking is difficult.
- मुझे व्याकरण समझ में आती है। — I understand grammar.
Talking about practice habits:
- मैं हर रोज़ अभ्यास करता/करती हूँ। — I practise every day.
- मैं फ़िल्में देख कर सीखता/सीखती हूँ। — I learn by watching films.
- मुझे शब्द याद करने में मज़ा आता है। — I enjoy memorising words.
Asking for help with language:
- इसका मतलब क्या है? — What does this mean?
- क्या आप दोबारा कह सकते हैं? — Can you say that again?
- मैं हिंदी में कैसे कहते हैं...? — How do you say ... in Hindi?

मुझे हिंदी बोलना आता है थोड़ामैं थोड़ा हिंदी बोल सकता हूँUse सकना for ability — it is cleaner and more natural than मुझे ... आता है for speaking ability
