Describing your symptoms
The key phrase is मुझे...है (mujhe...hai) — I have...:
- मुझे बुखार है। (mujhe bukhar hai.) — I have a fever.
- मुझे खाँसी है। (mujhe khaansi hai.) — I have a cough.
- मुझे दर्द है। (mujhe dard hai.) — I have pain.
For specific body part pain use में दर्द है (mein dard hai):
- मेरे पेट में दर्द है। (mere pet mein dard hai.) — I have a stomachache.
- मेरे सिर में दर्द है। (mere sir mein dard hai.) — I have a headache.
Useful doctor phrases
- क्या तकलीफ़ है? (kya takleef hai?) — What is the problem?
- कब से है? (kab se hai?) — Since when? (How long have you had it?)
- डॉक्टर साहब, मुझे अच्छा नहीं लग रहा। — Doctor, I am not feeling well.

- नुस्खा लिखिए। (nuskha likhiye.) — Please write a prescription.
- दवाई कैसे लेनी है? (dawai kaise leni hai?) — How should I take the medicine?
- दिन में तीन बार। (din mein teen baar.) — Three times a day.

Erros frequentes
मुझे बुखार होता हैमुझे बुखार हैFor current symptoms, use the simple present hai (है). Hota hai (होता है) implies habitual or recurring actions, not a current condition.
मेरा पेट में दर्द हैमेरे पेट में दर्द हैपेट is oblique here (followed by the postposition mein), so use mere (मेरे), not mera (मेरा).
दो दिन पहले सेदो दिन सेTo say since/for two days, simply use din se (दिन से). Adding pehle (पहले) would mean two days ago, which is a different meaning.
