The causative construction with lassen means "to have something done."
lassen + Infinitiv:
- Ich lasse die Wände streichen. (I am having the walls painted.)
- Wir haben den Teppich erneuern lassen. (We had the carpet replaced.)
- Er lässt die Möbel liefern. (He is having the furniture delivered.)
In the past (Perfekt): haben + ... + Infinitiv + lassen
- Ich habe die Küche renovieren lassen. (I had the kitchen renovated.)
Note: Unlike English "have something done," German uses the infinitive, not the past participle: Ich lasse die Wände streichen (not gestrichen).
