A thesis statement

A thesis statement é a espinha dorsal de qualquer texto persuasivo. Expõe claramente a posição do autor e orienta o leitor.

"While remote work offers undeniable flexibility, its long-term impact on team cohesion demands urgent regulatory attention."

"Critics might argue that renewable energy is too costly. However, recent data shows that the long-term savings outweigh the initial investment."

Estrutura: Objecção (might argue / could claim) → Refutação (however / yet / in fact)

Transições argumentativas de nível C1

  • Reforçar: furthermore, what is more, above all
  • Matizar: admittedly, granted, while it is true that
  • Refutar: nevertheless, on the contrary, this overlooks the fact that
  • Concluir: ultimately, in light of the evidence, it follows that

Erros frequentes — Escrita persuasiva

  • In my opinion, I think that AI is good → AI demonstrably enhances productivity across sectors.

Evita a dupla subjectividade ('in my opinion' + 'I think') — numa argumentação formal, afirma directamente.

  • This proves that we need change → This strongly suggests the need for systemic reform.

  • Everybody agrees that education is important → There is broad consensus that education underpins social mobility.

'Everybody agrees' é retoricamente fraco — prefere uma formulação precisa e fundamentada.

  • The opposite view is wrong → While this view has merit, it overlooks key evidence.

Erros frequentes

  • In my opinion, I think that AI is good
AI demonstrably enhances productivity across sectors

    Evita dupla subjectividade; afirma directamente.

  • This proves that we need change
This strongly suggests the need for systemic reform

'Proves' é absoluto; usa 'suggests' ou 'indicates'.

  • The opposite view is wrong

Reconhece o mérito antes de refutar o contra-argumento.

  • Studies show that this is true, so we should act now.
A substantial body of research supports this claim, lending urgency to policy action.

'Studies show' é vago; qualifica as fontes para reforçar o logos.

  • If you don't agree with this, you are part of the problem.
Resistance to this view may stem from understandable concerns, which merit examination.
