# Onde fica...?

Preposições de lugar

Para indicar a posição de um local, usa preposições como:

  • next to — ao lado de
  • between — entre
  • opposite — em frente a, normalmente do outro lado

The bank is next to the supermarket. — O banco fica ao lado do supermercado.

The pharmacy is between the bakery and the bank. — A farmácia fica entre a padaria e o banco.

Pedir indicações

Começa de forma educada com Excuse me:

Dar indicações

Usa o imperativo, sem sujeito:

  • Go straight. — Siga em frente.
  • Turn left / right. — Vire à esquerda / direita.
  • Cross the street. — Atravesse a rua.

Go straight, then turn left at the traffic lights. — Siga em frente e depois vire à esquerda nos semáforos.

Para mudar de direção, diz **turn left**; para seguir para esse lado, **go left**. Não se usa normalmente **to the left** nesta instrução.

  • It's in front of the bank
    It's opposite the bank

**In front of** significa imediatamente diante de algo; **opposite** indica normalmente que fica em frente, do outro lado.

  • Where is the bank? It is in the left.
    It's on the left.

Com os lados, a expressão fixa é **on the left/right**.

  • Go right on the traffic lights
Turn right at the traffic lights

Usa **at** para um ponto específico e **turn** para uma mudança de direção.

  • The pharmacy is next the bank
The pharmacy is next to the bank

A expressão completa é **next to**; **next** sozinho não funciona aqui.

  • Where is the more near bank?
    Where is the nearest bank?

O superlativo de **near** é **nearest**, não **more near**.
