Chinese Numbers
Chinese numbers follow a very logical system. Once you learn 1-10, you can build all numbers up to 99.
Numbers 1-10
- 一 (yī) 二 (èr) 三 (sān) 四 (sì) 五 (wǔ)
- 六 (liù) 七 (qī) 八 (bā) 九 (jiǔ) 十 (shí)
Building bigger numbers
- 11 = 十一 (shí yī) = ten + one
- 21 = 二十一 (èrshíyī) = two-tens + one
- 100 = 一百 (yībǎi)
Important: 二 vs 两
- Use 二 (èr) when counting: 一、二、三...
- Use 两 (liǎng) before measure words: 两个人 (two people), 两杯茶 (two cups of tea)
Asking age
- 你多大？ (Nǐ duō dà?) → How old are you? (informal)
- 你几岁？ (Nǐ jǐ suì?) → How old are you? (for children)
- 我二十五岁。 (Wǒ èrshíwǔ suì.) → I am 25 years old.
💬 Example: "我今年三十岁。" (Wǒ jīnnián sānshí suì.) → "I am thirty years old this year."

Erros frequentes
我有二十岁我二十岁No 有 for age in Chinese, just subject + number + 岁
二个人两个人Use 两 not 二 before measure words
十二（表示20）二十20 in Chinese is 二十 (two-ten), not 十二 (ten-two)
多少岁（对成年人）你多大？几岁 is mainly used for children, use 多大 for adults
我有三十岁我三十岁Age in Chinese: subject + number + 岁, no verb needed
