Conciseness in Spanish means eliminating redundancy and choosing between active and passive voice. Active voice is more direct: El equipo completó el proyecto (The team completed the project) is more concise than El proyecto fue completado por el equipo. To eliminate redundancies: instead of "subir arriba" (go up upwards), simply say "subir"; instead of "volver a repetir" (repeat again), say "repetir." The prolijo (verbose) style uses unnecessary periphrases: "en el momento actual" can be replaced with "ahora" (now). "Proceder a realizar" simplifies to "hacer" (to do). Depurar (to refine) a text means removing superfluous words: "debido al hecho de que" becomes "porque" (because). A sobrio and eficaz style prefers short, direct sentences. Conciseness is not brevity: it means saying exactly what is necessary, no more and no less.
