Inviting someone
To invite someone in Spanish, use ¿Te gustaría...? (Would you like to...?):
Example: "¿Te gustaría venir a cenar el sábado?" → "Would you like to come to dinner on Saturday?"
Example: "¿Te gustaría probar mi receta casera?" → "Would you like to try my homemade recipe?"
For more formal invitations, use ¿Le gustaría...? (usted form):
Example: "¿Le gustaría acompañarnos a cenar?" → "Would you like to join us for dinner?"
Accepting politely
- ¡Me encantaría! → I would love to!
- ¡Claro que sí! → Of course!
- Con mucho gusto → With great pleasure
- ¡Qué buena idea! → What a great idea!
Declining politely
- Me encantaría, pero no puedo → I would love to, but I cannot
- Lo siento, ya tengo planes → I am sorry, I already have plans
- ¿Podemos dejarlo para otro día? → Can we leave it for another day?
- Qué pena, ese día no puedo → What a shame, I cannot that day
