Discussing ethics in a business context requires formal vocabulary, the ability to express obligations and prohibitions, and constructions for hypothetical reasoning.
Expressing obligation and prohibition
- Сотрудники обязаны соблюдать кодекс поведения. — Employees are obliged to follow the code of conduct.
- Запрещается принимать подарки от контрагентов. — Accepting gifts from contractors is prohibited.
- Необходимо раскрывать конфликт интересов. — It is necessary to disclose conflicts of interest.
Hypothetical and conditional reasoning
- Если бы компания соблюдала стандарты, скандала не было бы. — If the company had observed the standards, there would have been no scandal.
- При наличии нарушений следует немедленно сообщить руководству. — In the event of violations, management must be informed immediately.
Reporting and accountability structures
- понести ответственность за нарушение — to bear responsibility for a violation
- привлечь к ответственности — to hold accountable

Tip: The verb нести in combinations like нести ответственность (bear responsibility) and нести убытки (incur losses) is essential in formal business and legal Russian.
