Making Suggestions with the Subjunctive
Use presente do conjuntivo after suggestion verbs:
- Sugiro que façamos um horário de limpeza. (I suggest we make a cleaning schedule.)
- É melhor que dividamos as tarefas. (It's better that we divide the tasks.)
Expressing Agreement and Disagreement
- Concordo com o que dizes. (I agree with what you say.)
- Não concordo nada. (I don't agree at all.)
- Tens razão, mas... (You're right, but...)
"Costumar" for Household Routines
- Eu costumo cozinhar à noite. (I usually cook at night.)
- Nós costumamos dividir as compras. (We usually split the shopping.)
Tip: "Casa de banho" is European Portuguese for bathroom. In Brazil they say "banheiro".
