Persuasive writing in Korean
At C1 level, persuasive writing requires structured argumentation. Korean has specific connectors and patterns for formal argumentation.
Key argumentation structure: 1. 주장 (Claim) — State your position clearly.
- 저는 이 정책이 필요하다고 주장합니다. (I argue that this policy is necessary.)
2. 근거 (Evidence) — Support with facts or logic.
- 연구에 따르면... (According to research...)
3. 반론 인정 + 재반박 (Concede + Rebut) — A strong argument acknowledges and refutes counterpoints.
- 물론 반대 의견도 있지만, 그러나... (Of course there are opposing views, however...)
4. 결론 (Conclusion) — Restate position with conviction.
- 따라서, 이 방안이 최선임을 주장합니다. (Therefore, I maintain that this approach is best.)
Key connectors:
- -(으)므로: formal causal connector (therefore/since)
- 그러나 / 하지만: however (contrast)
- 또한: moreover / additionally
- 따라서: therefore / consequently
Tip: Korean readers expect structured, sequential logic. Avoid jumping between ideas.
