Korean cooking instructions use imperative and sequential forms.
- 먼저 / 그 다음에 / 마지막으로 — first / next / finally (sequence words)
- -아/어서 for sequential steps: 양파를 썰어서 볶아요 (Slice the onion then stir-fry)
- -고 나서 for completed steps: 물을 끓이고 나서 재료를 넣어요
- 얼마나 넣어요? — How much do you add?
- 좀 / 많이 / 조금 — a little / a lot / a little bit (quantity adverbs)
- 간을 보다 — to taste and check seasoning (literally "look at the seasoning")
- 불을 세게/약하게 해요 — make the heat strong/weak
- Counters for cooking: 큰 술 (tablespoon), 작은 술 (teaspoon), 컵 (cup)
