Body Parts in Korean
To say something hurts in Korean, use the pattern 이/가 아프다.
이/가 아프다 — to hurt / to be in pain:
- 머리가 아파요 → My head hurts
- 배가 아파요 → My stomach hurts
- 팔이 아파요 → My arm hurts
- 다리가 아파요 → My leg hurts
Subject particles:
- 이 → after a consonant (팔이, 목이)
- 가 → after a vowel (머리가, 배가, 코가)
Pointing to body parts:
- 여기가 아파요 → It hurts here
- 이쪽이 아파요 → This side hurts
Other useful expressions:
- 어디가 아파요? → Where does it hurt?
- 많이 아파요 → It hurts a lot
- 조금 아파요 → It hurts a little

팔 아파요팔이 아파요Do not omit the subject particle 이/가 — it is required after the body part
많이 아파 있어요많이 아파요아프다 does not combine with 있어요; simply use 아파요 for the present tense
