Persuasive writing at C1 combines argumentative structure, strategic concessions, and appeals to the reader.
The argumentative structure: 1. These (thesis): state your position clearly. Ich vertrete die Auffassung, dass... (I hold the view that...) 2. Argumente (arguments): support with evidence. Dies wird durch folgende Punkte untermauert... (This is substantiated by the following points...) 3. Einräumung (concession): acknowledge the opposing view. Zwar lässt sich einwenden, dass... Dennoch... (Admittedly, one may object that... Nevertheless...) 4. Schlussfolgerung (conclusion): synthesize. Daraus ergibt sich zwingend, dass... (From this it necessarily follows that...)
Persuasion techniques:
- Rhetorische Frage: Wer würde dem widersprechen? (Who would disagree?)
- Rule of three: three arguments in series for cumulative effect
- Appell: Es liegt an uns allen, zu handeln. (It is up to all of us to act.)
Persuasive writing does not manipulate — it argues with rigor and honesty.
Uitdrukkingen
