De Engelse toekomende tijd: will of going to
Om een roadtrip te organiseren, moet je over je plannen en beslissingen kunnen praten. Het Engels gebruikt twee belangrijke vormen voor de toekomende tijd.
Going to — vooraf besloten plannen
Be + going to + infinitief
Gebruik going to wanneer je al hebt besloten iets te doen:
- We are going to visit the Scottish Highlands. → We gaan de Schotse Hooglanden bezoeken.
- She is going to book the campsites in advance. → Zij gaat de campings van tevoren reserveren.
- I am going to drive the first leg. → Ik ga het eerste deel rijden.
Will — spontane beslissingen en beloften
Will + infinitief
Gebruik will voor een beslissing die je neemt terwijl je spreekt, of voor een belofte:
- "We need fuel." — "I'll stop at the next service station." (spontane beslissing)
- I'll help you plan the route. (belofte)
- Don't worry — it will be an amazing trip! (algemene voorspelling)
Voorspellingen: going to of will
- Going to = zichtbaar bewijs of aanwijzing: Look at the map — we're going to get lost!
- Will = je mening of persoonlijke overtuiging: I think it will be the best trip of our lives.
