Telling Travel Stories — Past + Reactions
Combining past tense with opinions:
- मैं राजस्थान गया/गई और वह बहुत सुंदर था। — I went to Rajasthan and it was very beautiful.
- हमने स्थानीय खाना खाया जो बहुत स्वादिष्ट था। — We ate local food which was very tasty.
Expressing reactions with लगना:
- मुझे बहुत अच्छा लगा। — I felt great / I really enjoyed it.
- वह जगह मुझे बहुत पसंद आई। — I really liked that place.
- मुझे वह अनुभव यादगार लगा। — That experience felt memorable to me.
Recommending based on your experience:
- आपको ज़रूर जाना चाहिए। — You must definitely go.
- मैं इसकी सिफ़ारिश करता/करती हूँ। — I recommend it.
- यह बहुत यादगार जगह है। — It is a very memorable place.
जो (jo) = which/who — a relative pronoun that connects clauses. Very useful for describing things you experienced
Expressions
- मेरी यात्रा बहुत यादगार रही।Saying your trip was very memorable
- वहाँ का खाना बहुत स्वादिष्ट था।Saying the food there was very tasty
- मैं वहाँ फिर जाना चाहता हूँ।Saying you want to go there again
- मुझे उस जगह से प्यार हो गया।Saying you fell in love with that place
- तुम्हें भी एक बार ज़रूर जाना चाहिए।Strongly recommending someone else should go too
Common mistakes
मुझे अच्छा लगा था वहाँवहाँ मुझे बहुत अच्छा लगाLocation words like वहाँ naturally come first, and बहुत intensifies the feeling
मैं वहाँ वापस जाना चाहतामैं वहाँ फिर जाना चाहता हूँDo not drop the auxiliary हूँ — it is required for present tense wish expressions
जो खाना बहुत अच्छा था हमने खायाहमने जो खाना खाया वह बहुत अच्छा थाRelative clause with जो comes before the main clause — subject first, then जो clause, then main predicate
