For negotiating, use the Konjunktiv II for hypothetical proposals.
Hypothetical proposals:
- Wenn wir Ihnen einen Rabatt anbieten würden, würden Sie den Vertrag unterschreiben? (If we offered you a discount, would you sign the contract?)
- Wenn Sie den Preis senken würden, würden wir heute bestellen. (If you lowered the price, we would order today.)
Key patterns:
- Wir würden vorschlagen, dass... (We would suggest that...)
- Wären Sie bereit, einen Kompromiss zu finden? (Would you be willing to find a compromise?)
- Das wäre für uns akzeptabel. (That would be acceptable for us.)
Formation: Konjunktiv II uses würde + Infinitiv for most verbs, but wäre (sein) and hätte (haben) have their own forms.
