The conjunction omdat (because) triggers subordinate clause word order: the verb moves to the END. Compare: Ik leer Nederlands (I learn Dutch) → ...omdat ik Nederlands leer (...because I learn Dutch). The conjugated verb goes to the very end! Ik ga naar school omdat ik wil leren (I go to school because I want to learn). With separable verbs, the prefix rejoins: ...omdat ik mijn huiswerk opmaak (...because I finish my homework). In Dutch schools, grades run from 1 to 10, with 5.5 being the passing mark. Use slagen voor (pass) and zakken voor (fail): Ik ben geslaagd voor het examen (I passed the exam).
