Email structure: 1. Greeting: Madame, Monsieur, (formal, unknown recipient) or Bonjour Madame Dupont, 2. Opening: State your purpose — Je vous écris au sujet de… (I am writing regarding…) 3. Body: Details of your message 4. Closing formula: Cordialement, (standard), Bien cordialement, (slightly warmer), Veuillez agréer mes salutations distinguées (very formal)
Formal register uses vous always, conditional for requests: Je souhaiterais obtenir… (I would like to obtain…), Pourriez-vous me confirmer… (Could you confirm…).
Key phrases:
- Suite à notre conversation… (Following our conversation…)
- Veuillez trouver ci-joint… (Please find attached…)
- Je reste à votre disposition (I remain at your disposal)

Ci-joint is invariable when placed before the noun: Ci-joint mon CV (not Ci-jointe).
