Discussing Future Medicine in Chinese

Key Pattern: 有望 (yǒuwàng) — "shows promise / is expected to"

有望 is used to express optimism about future outcomes:

  • 基因编辑技术有望根治遗传性疾病。 — Gene editing technology shows promise for curing hereditary diseases.
— This treatment is expected to enter clinical use within five years.

Note: 有望 is more formal and optimistic than 可能 (which simply means "possibly").

Expressing Potential Benefits:

  • 有助于 (yǒuzhùyú) — to contribute to, to help with (formal): 纳米技术有助于精准给药。
  • 能够 (nénggòu) — to be able to (formal alternative to 能): AI能够提高诊断准确率。
  • 从而 (cóng ér) — thereby, thus (connecting cause to result): 靶向治疗减少副作用,从而提高患者生存质量。

Medical Passive:

— After targeted treatment, the patient's condition improved significantly.
— He underwent organ transplant surgery.

Discussing Risk and Ethics: 引发 / 存在争议

  • 基因编辑技术引发了伦理争议。 — Gene editing technology has raised ethical controversies.
— The technology remains controversial in terms of safety.
  • 目前尚不明确 (mùqián shàng bù míngquè) — currently still unclear
