The NVC framework in Spanish
NVC follows a four-step framework for empathetic communication.
Step 1: Observation (without judgment)
*Cuando veo que llegas tarde...* — When I see you arrive late...
Step 2: Feeling (express the emotion)
*...me siento frustrado...* — ...I feel frustrated...
Step 3: Need (identify the need)
*...porque necesito puntualidad...* — ...because I need punctuality...
Step 4: Request (make a request)
*...¿podrías avisarme si vas a llegar tarde?* — ...could you let me know if you'll be late?
Full sentence: *Cuando veo que llegas tarde, me siento frustrado, porque necesito puntualidad. ¿Podrías avisarme?*
This framework avoids accusations and fosters constructive dialogue.
