Conditional inversions in Spanish
Conditional inversions provide a more literary and formal tone, perfect for entrepreneurial presentations.
- De haber sabido (had I known):
*De haber sabido, habría invertido antes.* — Had I known, I would have invested sooner.
- De haber tenido (had we had):
*De haber tenido más financiación, habríamos escalado.* — Had we had more funding, we would have scaled.
- De no ser por (were it not for):
*De no ser por los inversores, no existiríamos.* — Were it not for the investors, we wouldn't exist.
These structures remove the *si* and invert the order, creating a more elevated register. They are especially valued in pitches and professional speeches.
