To describe your neighbourhood, use location prepositions with the correct cases. Рядом с (next to) and между (between) take the instrumental case: Магазин рядом с парком (The shop is next to the park), Аптека между школой и банком (The pharmacy is between the school and the bank). Напротив (opposite) and далеко от (far from) take the genitive: Парк напротив нашего дома (The park is opposite our building). To say there is or there is no use есть/нет + genitive: В нашем районе есть метро (Our neighbourhood has a metro). В нашем районе нет парка (Our neighbourhood has no park).
