Structuring a Presentation in Portuguese

Discourse Connectors

Portuguese presentations rely on connecting words to guide the audience:

Introducing: *Em primeiro lugar...* / *Para começar...* Adding: *Além disso...* / *Por outro lado...* Contrasting: *No entanto...* / *Apesar disso...* Concluding: *Em conclusão...* / *Para terminar...*

Engaging the Audience

Use rhetorical questions:

*Já pensaram em...?* (Have you ever thought about...?)
*Sabiam que...?* (Did you know that...?)

Presentation Structure

1. Introdução: State the topic — *Hoje vou falar sobre...* 2. Desenvolvimento: Present key points with connectors 3. Conclusão: Summarize and close — *Em resumo...* / *Para concluir...*

Tip: Use *gostaria de* (I would like to) for a polished, formal tone.
