Inviting, Accepting, and Refusing
To invite someone in Japanese, use Verb ませんか (masen ka): 飲みに行きませんか (Won't you go for a drink?). This is polite and indirect. You can also use Verb ましょう for a more direct "let's": カラオケに行きましょう (Let's go to karaoke).
To accept an invitation enthusiastically, say ぜひ (by all means) or いいですね (sounds good). Example: ぜひ行きたいです (I'd love to go).
To refuse politely, Japanese culture values softness. Say すみません、ちょっと... (Sorry, it's a bit...) leaving the sentence unfinished. Or give a reason: 明日は予定があります (I have plans tomorrow). Always add また誘ってください (Please invite me again) to show you care. Never say a flat いいえ to decline socially.
