The Art of Persuasion in Hindi
The mixed conditional is central to persuasion — it links a past cause to a present consequence:
अगर मैंने पहले पढ़ाई की होती, तो आज मैं डॉक्टर होता। *(If I had studied earlier, I would be a doctor today.)*
Structure: अगर + past perfect + होता/होती, तो + present conditional
Three pillars of persuasion (rhetoric):
1. तर्क (Logic/Logos): Use facts and reasoning.
- इस योजना से 30% बचत होगी, जो आँकड़ों से सिद्ध है। *(This plan will save 30%, as proven by data.)*
2. भावना (Emotion/Pathos): Appeal to feelings.
- सोचिए, अगर यह आपके बच्चे के साथ होता। *(Imagine if this happened to your child.)*
3. विश्वसनीयता (Credibility/Ethos): Establish authority.
- दस साल के अनुभव के आधार पर मैं कह सकता हूँ... *(Based on ten years of experience, I can say...)*
Urdu-origin persuasive words commonly used in formal speeches:
- दलील (argument/reasoning), मुद्दा (issue/point), रवैया (attitude/stance)

- इस बात से इनकार नहीं किया जा सकता कि...One cannot deny that... (strong assertion)
- आँकड़े यह साबित करते हैं कि...The data proves that... (logical appeal)
- ज़रा सोचिए अगर...Just imagine if... (emotional appeal)
- मेरी राय में, सबसे अहम बात यह है...In my opinion, the most important point is...
- अगर हम कुछ नहीं करते, तो...If we do nothing, then... (call to action)
- यह तो सब मानते हैं कि...Everyone agrees that... (common ground)
자주 하는 실수
अगर मैं पढ़ा होता, तो मैं डॉक्टर होता।अगर मैंने पढ़ाई की होती, तो मैं डॉक्टर होता।Mixed conditionals about studying require पढ़ाई करना (to study) with ने construction, not just पढ़ा होता
मैं तुम्हें मनाऊँगा।मैं तुम्हें मना लूँगा।Compound verb मना लेना (to successfully convince) is more natural than simple future in persuasion context
साक्ष्य दिखाता है कि...साक्ष्य यह साबित करते हैं कि...साक्ष्य is plural in usage; use करते हैं (plural) and साबित करना (to prove) for stronger rhetorical effect
लोगों का पक्षपात है।लोगों में पक्षपात है।Bias exists in/within people — use में (in) not का (possessive) for mental states
भावना अपील से बोलनाभावनात्मक अपील करनाभावनात्मक is the correct adjective form; अपील करना is the natural verbal phrase
