The Präteritum of sein and haben
To describe past states, German uses the Präteritum (simple past) of sein and haben — more natural than the Perfekt for these two verbs.
sein in the Präteritum
- ich war — I was
- du warst — you were
- er/sie/es war — he/she/it was
- wir waren — we were
- ihr wart — you (plural) were
- sie/Sie waren — they were
haben in the Präteritum
- ich hatte — I had
- du hattest — you had
- er/sie/es hatte — he/she/it had
- wir hatten — we had
Das Konzert war toll! — The concert was great!
Ich hatte viel Spaß. — I had a lot of fun.

Es war sehr langweiligen.Es war sehr langweilig. After war, the adjective is not declined (predicative form)
Die Leute war nett.Die Leute waren nett.Leute is plural, so use waren (not war)
