Abbreviations and informal tone

In German text messages, abbreviations and a casual tone are common:

Common abbreviations:

LG = Liebe Grüße (kind regards)
VG = Viele Grüße (many regards)
HDL = Hab dich lieb (love you)
GLG = Ganz liebe Grüße (warmest regards)
WE = Wochenende (weekend)
vllt = vielleicht (maybe)
bzgl = bezüglich (regarding)

Informal tone: In messages, you can drop the subject pronoun:

Bin gleich da. (instead of Ich bin gleich da.)
Komme später. (instead of Ich komme später.)

The informal du is often used even in first digital contact:

Hast du morgen Zeit? (Do you have time tomorrow?)
Schreib mir! (Write to me!)

To send a message:

Ich schicke dir eine Nachricht. (I will send you a message.)
Schreib mir eine SMS. (Send me a text.)

Nachricht is feminine: eine Nachricht (feminine accusative).

The verb schreiben takes the dative for the person: mir, not mich.
~~Ich habe dein SMS bekommen.~~
Ich habe deine SMS bekommen.
SMS is feminine in German: deine SMS.
~~Kannst du mich antworten?~~
Kannst du mir antworten?
Antworten takes the dative: mir antworten, not mich.
~~Ich schicke dir ein Message.~~
Ich schicke dir eine Nachricht.
In German, say Nachricht (message), not Message.
