Describing Symptoms

Key phrases for the doctor's office:

*Je ne me sens pas bien.* — I don't feel well.
*J'ai mal à la gorge.* — I have a sore throat.
*J'ai de la fièvre.* — I have a fever.
*Je tousse beaucoup.* — I cough a lot.

"Depuis" — Since / For

To say how long you've had symptoms:

*J'ai mal à la tête depuis deux jours.* — I've had a headache for two days.
*Je suis malade depuis lundi.* — I've been sick since Monday.

In French, use the present tense with *depuis* (not past tense).

Negation

To say what you cannot do:

*Je ne peux pas dormir.* — I can't sleep.
*Je ne mange pas bien.* — I'm not eating well.

At the Pharmacy

*Je voudrais quelque chose pour le mal de tête.* — I'd like something for a headache.
*Vous avez une ordonnance ?* — Do you have a prescription?
*Prenez deux comprimés par jour.* — Take two tablets per day.
