Impersonal constructions are key for discussing art opinions without being too subjective.

Er wordt beweerd dat... (It is claimed that...) and Men zegt dat... (People say that...) distance you from the opinion: Er wordt beweerd dat deze installatie een meesterwerk is. (It is claimed that this installation is a masterpiece.)

Het valt te betwijfelen of... (It is doubtful whether...) and Het valt niet te ontkennen dat... (It cannot be denied that...) add nuance to art criticism.

Het is vaak beargumenteerd dat... (It has often been argued that...) introduces a common viewpoint. De vraag is of kunst altijd mooi hoeft te zijn (The question is whether art always needs to be beautiful).

For describing art: Het werk roept vragen op over... (The work raises questions about...), De kunstenaar speelt met... (The artist plays with...), Het werk nodigt uit tot reflectie (The work invites reflection).
