Superlatives & Asking for Directions

Forming superlatives

Add -st to the adjective, preceded by het:

groot → het grootst (the biggest)
mooi → het mooist (the most beautiful)
klein → het kleinst (the smallest)

Irregular: goed → het best, veel → het meest

When before a noun, add -e: de grootste stad, het mooiste museum.

Asking for directions

Waar is het station? → Where is the station?
Hoe kom ik bij het museum? → How do I get to the museum?
Is het ver? → Is it far?

Giving directions

Ga rechtdoor → Go straight
Ga linksaf bij het stoplicht → Turn left at the traffic light
Neem de tweede straat rechts → Take the second street on the right
Het is aan de linkerkant → It is on the left side

Example: "Dit is het grootste museum van Amsterdam. Ga rechtdoor en dan linksaf. Het is naast het mooiste park van de stad."
