At a Dutch market, you'll need quantity words. Use hoeveel to ask about amounts: *Hoeveel kost dat?* (How much does that cost?), *Hoeveel wilt u?* (How much do you want?). Dutch uses unique units: een pond = 500 grams (not the English pound). *Mag ik een pond kaas?* (May I have 500g of cheese?). For ordering: *Ik wil graag een kilo appels* (I'd like a kilo of apples). Note: no preposition between quantity and product — NOT *een kilo van appels*. Use een stuk for countable items: *Drie stuks alstublieft* (Three pieces please). The typical Dutch market phrase is *Anders nog iets?* (Anything else?).
