Transportation in Spanish
Getting around in a Spanish-speaking country means knowing the names of transport and how to talk about them.
en + means of transport
In Spanish, you use en before most vehicles:
- en autobús → by bus
- en tren → by train
- en taxi → by taxi
- en metro → by metro
- en coche → by car
- en bicicleta → by bicycle
But for walking, you say a pie (on foot), not en pie.
Coger el/la...
The verb coger means to take (a transport). It is regular in the present tense except for the yo form:
- Yo cojo el autobús
- Tú coges el tren
- Él/ella coge el metro

- ¿Dónde está la parada? → Where is the stop?
