Neighbors: Polite Requests with -아/어 주시겠어요?

In Korean apartment life, making polite requests to neighbors is essential. The key structure is -아/어 주시겠어요? — a highly polite way to ask someone to do something.

(Would you please...?)

  • More formal and respectful than -아/어 줄 수 있어요?
— Would you please reduce the noise?
— Would you please close the door?

Other useful polite patterns:

— May I...? (asking permission)
— May I park here?
  • 혹시 + question — Softens the question (by any chance / if possible)
— Is there by any chance a smell?

Cultural tip: In Korea, neighbors often give small gifts (like rice cakes) when moving in. (I look forward to your kind cooperation) is a standard polite phrase.

Would you please reduce the noise?
Where do I throw away the rubbish?
Do you happen to have a parking space?
I look forward to your kind cooperation.
I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Let us get along well as neighbors.

만나다 is an action, so the place takes 에서 (where something happens), not 에 (a destination/static location).

줄래? is casual banmal. To a neighbor you don't know well, use the polite -아/어 주시겠어요?

있다 (to exist/have) marks the thing with 이/가, never 을/를. So it's 공간이 있으세요?

With a request or command, use the reason ending -(으)니까, not -아서/어서, which can't precede an order.

계단으로 means 'up by the stairs' (the means/path). 을 would mark a direct object, which is wrong here.
