अंग्रेज़ी में अकादमिक सारांश लिखना
अकादमिक अंग्रेज़ी में सारांश (summary या précis) मूल पाठ की छोटी प्रति नहीं होता। यह लेखक के तर्क के सार को आपके अपने शब्दों में सुरक्षित रखने वाला संक्षिप्त पुनर्लेखन होता है।
मूल सिद्धांत
- पुनर्लेखन करें, नकल नहीं: सभी विचारों को अपनी भाषा में लिखें। पूरे वाक्य कॉपी करना, उद्धरण-चिह्न न होने पर भी, साहित्यिक चोरी है।
- संक्षिप्तता: अच्छा सारांश मूल पाठ का लगभग 20–25% होता है। केवल प्रमुख बिंदु रखें।
- तटस्थता: सारांश में आपकी राय नहीं, केवल लेखक की राय विश्वसनीय रूप में होनी चाहिए।
- तार्किक क्रम: मूल पाठ में विचारों की प्रस्तुति का क्रम बनाए रखें।
उन्नत परोक्ष कथन
विचारों को लेखक से जोड़ने के लिए अलग-अलग आरंभिक क्रियाओं का प्रयोग करें:
- तटस्थ: the author states, notes, reports, observes
- दृढ़: the author argues, contends, claims, maintains
- सावधान: the author suggests, proposes, implies, hints
- आलोचनात्मक: the author questions, challenges, disputes, refutes
says या writes को बार-बार न दोहराएँ; C1 स्तर के सारांश के लिए ये क्रियाएँ बहुत सरल हैं।
सामान्य गलतियाँ — अकादमिक सारांश
- The author said that the results were positive. → The author reports that the results were positive.
"Said" बहुत बोलचाल का है। reports, states, notes, argues का प्रयोग करें।
- I think the main point is the methodology. → The main point appears to be the methodology.
सारांश व्यक्तिगत राय व्यक्त करने का स्थान नहीं है। तटस्थ और निर्वैयक्तिक वाक्य-रचना अपनाएँ।
- The article is about how climate change affects food. → The article examines the impact of climate change on food security.
"Is about" बहुत बोलचाल का है। examines, investigates, explores या addresses का प्रयोग करें।
- She summarised the article by copying key sentences. → She summarised the article by paraphrasing the key arguments.
वाक्यों की नकल साहित्यिक चोरी है। पुनर्लेखन में पूरा विचार अपने शब्दों में लिखा जाता है।
- In my own words, the study shows stress causes disease. → The study indicates that stress may contribute to the development of certain conditions.
"In my own words" अनावश्यक है। बिना सावधानी वाली व्यापक सामान्यीकरणों से भी बचें।

I think the main point is the methodology.The main point appears to be the methodology.सारांश में व्यक्तिगत राय (I think) नहीं होनी चाहिए। तटस्थ, निर्वैयक्तिक वाक्य-रचना अपनाएँ।
The article is about how climate change affects food.The article examines / investigates the impact of climate change on food security.Is about बहुत बोलचाल का है। अकादमिक रजिस्टर में examines, investigates, explores या addresses लें।
