Writing a summary in Spanish requires mastery of advanced reported speech and paraphrasing. Reported speech transforms direct quotes: "Los resultados son claros" becomes "El autor afirmó que los resultados eran claros." Note the tense shift (son → eran). To paraphrase effectively, replace words with synonyms while preserving meaning: "Los hallazgos revelan" can become "Los resultados ponen de manifiesto." A good summary is conciso (concise), uses your own words, and maintains an objective tone. Avoid copying entire sentences from the original text. Use connectors like "en primer lugar" (firstly), "asimismo" (likewise), and "en definitiva" (ultimately) to structure your synthesis logically. The goal is to condensar (condense) the main ideas into a shorter, clear text.
