Korean literature has produced towering figures whose work you must know at C2 level. Yi Sang (이상) pioneered Korean modernism with stream-of-consciousness prose and surrealist experiments. Kim Sowol (김소월) is the beloved poet of 한 (han), whose "Azaleas" (진달래꽃) defines lyrical longing. Pak Kyongni (박경리) wrote the monumental saga Toji (토지), spanning five generations of Korean history. Han Kang (한강), winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, brings visceral, poetic prose to themes of violence and humanity. Understanding these authors means recognizing their 문체 (prose style): Yi Sang's fragmented experimentalism, Kim Sowol's musical simplicity, Han Kang's cool, precise lyricism. Korean literary criticism distinguishes 산문 (prose: fluid, non-metrical) from 운문 (verse: structured rhythmically). At C2, you should be able to identify an author's style from a passage alone and write comparative analysis across authors.
